On August 18th, 2007 duffers, hackers, and a few good golfers, got together to attack the beautiful Tomahawk Course at the Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro, ME. The morning started off looking like the event was going to play in the rain but the sun arrived 10 minutes before tee time and off we went.
This was our largest gathering yet and included customers of Boulet's Truck Service as well as those from Boulet Freight Management. 20 teams in all, vying for the same thing, the respect of others and the right to be called Winners! We had Team Duke, a team whose main focus was looking good and eating well. Then there was Team Kentrol who barely squeaked by to win the coveted "Low 1st Gross" Award. Did I mention that there is no award? Just the right to brag about your achievement for a full year until another group of hackers comes along and takes that right away. I've been there, I know.
Team Boulet, a once proud team, lost to team Kentrol but won "1st Low Net". Then there's Sandra Boulet who isn't happy with "2nd low net", she has to go on to win "closest to the pin" and "longest drive, women". I think this event was fixed right from the get go.
The biggest winner of all was the Maine Children's Cancer Program which took home $6,906. This is why we do it. Why we dress up in our best golf clothes, dust off our clubs, buy a new box of golf balls, a bottle of insect repellent, and a new golf glove. We do it for the kids. For those, too young in some cases, to understand what is wrong with them. We do it because we care. And for that reason we at the Boulet Family thank all of you for your generosity, your patronage, and your friendship.
